Are we run by the rule of law, or by something else entirely?
This question has been living in my head for a while. Not as a conspiracy, but as recognition of a world of uncertainty. The more you appreciate the rapid pace of humanity’s ingenuity, the more you recognise how brazenly regulation is being outpaced.
Innovation does not wait for legislation; bets are placed on a game where the rules have yet to be formed.
I studied International Financial Law at a time when digital currencies were forcing regulators to confront something they had never encountered: a financial system that did not need their permission to exist. My dissertation examined how the law was, and wasn’t, adapting. That research gave me the framework. However, the questions that followed were bigger than any paper could hold.
Legal Digitalism is where I continue that work. Publicly, and with conviction.
Sincerely,
Talal
